How to take care of geese. Applying predator urine to the lawn can be effective at repelling geese. When just beginning in raising geese the first thing you have to prepare is land and housing. Geese need to be able to put their heads in water to clean their nares, so it's always good to have water deep enough for them to do this, even tiny goslings.

Raising geese requires you to build a proper house for them. This is the first in a series of videos i'm making showing how i care for my animals on a daily basis. Food and water should always be available.

Baby geese can be fed crumbled starter and given fresh water as soon as they arrive on your farm. Provide your geese with a safe indoor living space to protect them from predators, and an outdoor area with fresh water, lots of grass, and shaded areas to keep them happy. Use a crumble mix for at least one week to ten days.

The goslings can forage after 5 weeks of age. Grass clippings can be fed, but ensure that no spraying for weeds or insects has recently occurred on. Geese actually love to stay in water, so it will be better if you have a pond ready for your geese.

You can release them every morning and bring them back to their shelter in the. As long as they can clean they're beaks and nostrils out and get clean water, they should be fine. Geese on clean, short grass do not need a lot of supplementary food in spring and summer, but they should be offered a mixture of wheat and pellets, dry, in a bowl, before being shut up for.

This video is in response to many of our viewers wanting to get their own goose and questions about how we take care of george. The geese smell the urine and assume that the predator in question is present. They don't have to be able to swim in the water.
